Rubius has developed a system for Gazprom Neft that can identify inconsistencies between the object and its 3D model in only 30 seconds. It can be used to control the construction process, monitor the condition of buildings, and provide production quality control.
The solution uses point cloud verification. Here's how it works:
– The user uploads the object's 3D model and point cloud, which is generated using a 3D scanner, into the program.
– The system identifies tooling points and overlaps the model with the point cloud.
– The point cloud is segmented into elements of the structure. The system classifies these elements and highlights them in different colors depending on their class.
– Finally, the system compares the 3D model with the point cloud and marks deviations red, adding them to the report.
The result of this process is a list of deviations and their matching percentage. Users can also view correct segments and quickly find the one they need.
If done manually, this task can require up to several days. For instance, verification of a 220,000 ft² building takes more than 2 days. Besides, the comparison accuracy directly depends on a specialist's qualification. Our system, however, speeds up the point cloud processing and eliminates the possibility of human failure.
