Product feature demonstration and AR game
Back when the pandemic had only recently begun in August 2020 and restrictions were in full swing, planning large events was not an option. So how would one go about carrying out a marketing activation or launch for a large group of people who want to experience a product firsthand under these conditions?
That’s the predicament that Samsung and Cheil Singapore had when they approached Rubius Vostok to help launch Samsung Asia’s new budget flagship phone. Working alongside them, we were able to deliver the AR project on an extremely tight deadline.
AR showroom development
In order to showcase Samsung’s flagship phones and accessories, we developed an AR showroom and an AR city to allow potential buyers to explore Samsung’s value proposition interactively and sign up to test the phone.
This project allowed customers to have an experience similar to that of a showroom, using and interacting with the product, but from the comfort and safety of their own homes. In the midst of heavy COVID restrictions in Singapore, this was an ideal experience given that visiting retail stores was not an option.
The solution was made available to mobile users on the Google Play store, with most of the app’s features also available in a web browser version for iOS and PC users.
The final delivery consists of three parts:
- Augmented Reality Galaxy City Exploration, where users collect points exploring S20 FE features
- A 3D racing game in which users use their points to upgrade their car and compete for vouchers
- A browser version for iOS and PC users
Result
Through the collection of in-game points and competing for valuable prizes while exploring the AR city, the solution succeeded in its aim of generating interest among Singaporean millennials.
This is backed up by the fact that it was downloaded 5,000 times within the first month and became one of the top-trending apps in the Singaporean Google Play Store.
Vostok VR was able to bring a fun and interactive experience for Samsung buyers and helped Samsung to increase their sales during the pandemic using this app.
