AR app for demonstration of a water treatment complex at trade shows

When it comes to high-end equipment, buyers want to see the product personally. And so industrial exhibitions have been, are and will be one of the most effective ways to sell on the b2b market. But what if the product is so large that it cannot fit the stand, and its transportation costs six-figure sums?

Client

Our client is the National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU). Dozens of devices for industry, energy and housing and utility sector are being developed within its walls. The list includes the “Geyser TM” complex, which purifies and disinfects natural water, making it drinkable.

Visually, “Geyser TM” looks like a metal box, which houses reservoirs, sensors, ozonisers and purifying filters. The installation has several configurations, its total area is 10 sq. m. (107.6 sq. ft.). It is difficult and expensive to transport "Geyser TM" to exhibitions – at the same time, the conventional replica models and illustrations fail to have the desired effect on buyers and investors.

AR app development

Following a TPU order, we have developed an AR application for exhibitions. With its help, you can add interactive features to the stand, bringing all “Geyser TM” configurations to the exhibition at once – all you need is a tablet or smartphone.

AR app functionality:

• renders equipment in full size, plus the 360° rotation option and zoom in/out option;
• clearly demonstrates the otherwise hidden process of water purification;
• displays help information about the arrangement of the device;
• demonstrates several configurations of the installation.

Result

The Rubius developed app was used for the first time at the VuzPromExpo scientific and educational exhibition, where Russian scientific organisations showcase their developments. For two days, some 2,500 people viewed the stand with the “Geyser TM” virtual-reality installation: engineers, professors, businessmen and representatives of government agencies.
